How to convert Additional Air Slide Valve into Idle Control Valve (ICV)?

Hi all! As written in the title, is there anyone that know how to apply the ICV into the early models of the E30s? My additional air slide valve (that looks like the one i attach) is gone. The inner piston, indeed, does not move. its totally dead and I had to bypass it by closing the air hoses that goes in the big pipes of the valve. Now I have got problem on cold start....

you would have to convert to Motronic 1.0-1.3 I believe in order to run a ICV.

Depends how far you want to go. I have an m20b23 with the same idle valve as you describe, i put megasuqirt 2 onto it and some ICV i found at the wreckers, bunch of plumbing and new pipes. complete new loom. works brilliantly - lot of work though. I should have just put m20b25 stuff on but this cost me like $5 as i had all the bits lying around.

One solution might be to get a vacuum solenoid valve and a coolant temperature switch that swiches at say 60degC. Then hook it up so that it lets a bit of air in when cold to give you the idle up, but then once it gets to 60degC it closes and it idles just on the throttle stop.

bit like how the 7th injector works on early m20s, but instead of adding more fuel you can add more air. There would be a fair bit of stuffing around to get this to work, might need to put in some restriction if it added too much air, but when you get it right it should be quite reliable.
