Custom Muffler Repack
I took this post from my build thread (Post 213), as I thought it may be helpful.
Are you unhappy with the quiet state of your stock/aftermarket muffler? My ANSA Sport cat back exhaust system needed a little more growl, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I wanted something a little throatier, without sacrificing highway driveability.
Tested my modification by tack welding in the original metal and sealing the edges with gorilla tape.
After driving around for a while, I was mostly happy with the new sound but wanted to remove a little rasp/drone.
I added some additional packing (transferred from the other side), and fully welded up the muffler (using sheet metal from my old 325e parts car roof no less!)
Pretty self-explanatory:
I'm pleased with the final sound, and it was free!

Pretty self-explanatory:
- Cut open the muffler
- Remove some/half/all of the packing material.
- Weld up the new hole with sheetmetal.
I'm pleased with the final sound, and it was free!
