        Maybe not

Napa has $5 rebate on oxygen sensors this whole year too, by the way

wires are easy to solder if you know what you are doing

they aren't plain copper, they are definitely not easy to solder.

Soldering these wires are a pain in the ass. I just did it a few days ago. Not fun.

you could spend $4 on new pins and crimp it properly. but whatever.
Forgive my ignorance, but I know next to nothing about splicing, soldering, etc. Today I wired in a generic Bosch O2 sensor and I used butt connectors. What exactly do you mean by new pins and what is the downside to using butt connectors?

There isn't much of a downside. Lots of people do it.

There is no downside just doesnt look the best

He means crimp new pins onto the wires, then press them into the BMW OEM connector.. thats too hard

they can come loose, corrode, etc.

lots of people do dumb things. your car isn't going to explode, it's just not how I'd do it.

The cord length on the new oxygen sensor was ~6 inches shorter than the OEM one. I assume that this method would result in too short of a cable, right? If I understand this correctly...

My cord length was around 4 inches shorter.

You can make it as long as you want when you splice the connector on.
