I know there's a lot in here, but I'm sure it's been covered.
I'm not sure if a 91 M42 powered e30 has the huge harmonic balancer, but if it doesn't, it will be fine.
To tell, get underneath and look at the flex disc (right at the back of the tranny) If there's a huge piece of metal around the flex disc, there may be risk of contact.
yeah no i know theres no harmonic balancer, i was talking about bending the lever itself so it sits centered in the console.

Yes, you are correct.
And to contribute-- I just rebuilt my entire shift linkage with new bushings and the Z3M shifter. Clears just fine in my 325is, and feels the same as the B&M shifter at about 1/3 the price.
It's perfect for me. Doesnt sit too low, and the throw isnt too short. It's just right.

Did you use part number 25117527254 ? Did you have to bend anything ?
