    Mounting Euro Rear Plate Filler...

I searched this topic, but I guess I still have one question... Why does it seem like everyone who has this euro rear plate filler, they're us plate hangs below where it's supposed to? mine has 4 screws to attach, does the euro filler make the mounting points lower, or disables the use of the 4 us plate mounting holes. I'm a little confused. Also, could someone post some pics of the plate filler? and... I have a sterling silver 1990 325i with a black "is" trunk spoiler, what do you guys think about the plate filler on my car? yay or gay? thanks,
    Dan

my car with the plate filler:

I took out the plugs for the US plate, lined up the plate filler and drilled 4 holes where the US holes were, then bolted it on.

Maybe some more pictures would help:

Remove that trunk liner, and knock those plastic screw holders out of there!

Get some nice hardware to secure plate. A flathead bolt, some washers, and some nuts do great.

Drill a hole for the bolts. Line up to space first and mark before of course.

Mount. Put bolt through license plate, through filler, through body, then put the washer and nut on, then re-install liner.

Dude, it was gusting winds that day, and I want to paint the euro plate filler, and my spoiler at the same time, as well as now the euro grille on the way. Besides, my girl had called during, so I was trying to wrap up so I could go out and play. :P

Nope, it does (its not your imagination). In the earlier styles, the inside spot for the license was brought down a bit further.

In the later syles, the spot for the license plate is just as tall as the head lights.

Because US plates are gay. (I've been thinking of what would happen if i trim the lower part of my plate off.....and cut, trim, and reconnect the plate frame to hide the trickery.......of course that is a lot of work for not much change)

I've been thinking of doing that. Is it even legal?

i guess what i don't get then, is why does it hang over when you install the filler, but not when there is no filler? thanks for all the help,

I trimmed my plate down a little bit on both the top and bottom, and it no longer hangs down. I'll try to snap some pics.

It hangs down both times, it's just more noticeable with a euro filler since the plate is further away from the actual car, and seperated by metal. Without a filler, it pretty much just rubs the car right at the spot towarsd the bottom of the spot, leaves nice little marsk. :x

Does anyone have the US plate filler from the ic? I just put one on, it bolts right up with existing holes, no drilling, I thinks it looks good, no plate overhang.
