I just did the all red tails on my car using dupli-color red metelcast. There is a hint of amber in the turnsignals, but the camera picked it up more then if you was looking at it with your eyes. The car is really dirty in the picture so the only thing that is clean are the tail lights.

They used to sell the Testors paint at Toys R Us many years ago. I thought that they still did until I went there recently and discovered that they don't even sell models anymore.

Did it. Not great but for less than 10 bucks, its good enough. lets see how well it holds up. Only problem was the crappy nozzle on my spray can and while I was clearcoating bugs and crap was getting stuck onto the lights. Heres some camera phone shots, better pictures once I get them on and the new wheels installed. Gonna get some sandpaper in the morning to smooth things out a little.

no i used paint called Tamiya colour and they have a standard translucent red. then i covered it with krylon clear. i dont know if that will hold up to the elements so ill have to wait and see.

^That matches really well from what I can see in the pics. Did you use testors candy red? How many coats?

i did mine a couple of weeks ago. very easy to do like everyelse says tape off the corners and paint. i also put on 2 coats of clear because the red i used didnt match the shine of the plastic.

Good to know - I am going to give it a shot - nothing to lose anyway! :) If they turn out like crap I will save my cash for MHW's.

I only had to wetsand and polish mine because for some reason it came out orange peeled.

And the stuff I used was in a can, it was a 2 part can, you had to take this thing off the cap and jam it in the bottom, which punctured the reservoir inside that contained the catalyst. After that, you had about 4 hours to use it before it actually all hardened in the can.
