Wow, first time I ever read this thread, and I quickly realized I've been hacking some of these words.

Also the first I heard of autodidactic people, I googled it and was thinking holy crap that's me! My college educated girl laughs at me about my mis-pronunciation of words. I am full of useless information about lots of things, but learned it all from reading, so often I don't know the correct pronunciation, just what the word means.

Glad to see that Walt Disney was one of us.

Anyway, how do you pronounce Kamei? as in a Kamei spoiler?

Guibo as far as I know is a slang term. It is always called flex-disc in the catalogue, but everyone just calls it a guibo.

The worst non-BMW mispronunciation in my book is "Nucular" for Nuclear, I hate those people.

The rest were covered. Yeah, nu-cu-ler sounds gay but, porsh pisses me off.

If you're ever in Deutschland, say "bay-em-vay" for BMW.

Just wanted to clear up some of this.

                          Is it really Bil-steen?
It's Bill-shtyne. (end with the N - as in wine, not the E as in "tiny" ty-knee).

                          Lachsilber - Dark Silver - Lack-sill-berr
                          Not exactly right.

                          Zinobrot - Cinamon Red. TSin-ohb-rawt
                          Bronzit - Metallic Gold - Brawn-TSit
                          Schwarz - Black - Sh-war-TS
                          Alpinweiss - Alpine White - Al-pin-vice
                          Henarot - Hena Red/Orange- Hen-a-rawt
                          Lachsilber - Dark Silver - LawcH-zill-berr

Z - is pronounced "tss" - also C in some languages, like in the word tiTS (boobs)
S - is pronounced the same as Z in English - hence zill-berr, not sill-berr
SS - is pronounced the same as S in English
W - is pronouned the same as an English V, as in Vice (city ie.)

Now, CH is not pronounced CK, it's the sound cats make when hissing. It can sometimes be pronouned ck, but only in slang and in certain words.

                          Alpina = Al - pee - nuh
It's not "al" as in Al Bundy, nor is it "all". It's like the short "al" sort of like in "mental", so it could also be written as Ull - pee - nuh.
