Very cool pic, but hideous, hideous tire stretch.

yea, that tire stretch is rediculous. whats the point? get proper size tires and your car will handle better.

The point of all that tire stretch is, there is no way you'll fit those wheels under that car with the proper size tires. With stretched tires you can run rediculous sized wheels on an E30's or more common VW's Golf/Jetta's etc...
When it comes down to it this is a style choice, and not a performance choice.

Way of topic, but why does "correctly" sized wheel/tire handle better than stretched tire? and only talking about performance wise not comfort.

As the old racers thumb rule says, use as wide wheels as possible with your tires.

What makes wide enough wheel with stretched tire handle bad? Again talking about performance not comfort.

that tire stretch is ok. Could camber the front a little more. But with all these people talking about how stretched tire "cant handle" well forget the fact that the people who do stretch tires dont need to push their car over the tire's limit. How often does someone take a turn at 95mph on a 30mph zone? These people merely just cruise around. And no, stretched tires do not pop off as easily as some people might think. I've been running stretched and proper sized tires for the past 6 years and never had an issue with potholes, tire pressure, etc...

The harder you corner, the harder the forces of the turn are trying to unseat the tire from the rim.

That saying applies to running a proper tire size on a proper rim, as in, a 225 should be on a 8" rim, which is better than on a 7" rim, which is better than on a 6" rim.

                Keep it slideways!!

Why does that saying apply to "proper" tyre/rim combination?

How does the fact that harder you corner, the more forces will aplly to tyre make stretched tyre perform bad?

What do you think about these? 15 inch with 2-1/2 inch dish.

I have these wheels (with silver centers) on my 325. They're OK.

NP. The wheels look marginally better when they're clean.

The pic was taken by the PO after the car sat outside for a year. They have a nice lip, but the center of the wheel sticks out so far that it's flush with the outer edge of the lip.
