No. Even the ballast to the "wires" (I assume you mean the factory plug) is plug and play. It's zero splicing for the US 9006 ellipsoids. The only work you need to do is to mount them somewhere. -
So, I have the 9006 Bulbs...if i get the apexcone? Or the ddm kit the 9006 connects directly? No splicing? other than the ballast to the wires?Or, if your car came with factory 9006 bulb ellipsoids, you can just plug the 9006 connector into the HID ballast directly, doing absolutely no alteration to the wiring.
And then you can use the spare connector that came with your HID kit to create an adapter for the euro high beam connector to the 9005 weatherpack. Absolutely no splicing of the car's wiring harness whatsoever, and only one butt joint used to make the adapter.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the right up Clavin, really came through for me in the clutchest of moments.
what did you use to cut off the tab coming off the base going into the terminal?Leave a comment:

Good luck with the box construction!
Thanks for the kind words as well.
I want to see your 5000K versus my 4500K bulbs. I know the difference is small, but still... maybe at another meet, soon.Leave a comment:

Clavin, your the man. I'll be ordering my set this friday after i get my paycheck...I feel like i'm really biting off you now..I've been planning to do the HID 5000k lows + 3000k yellow fogs for a while now. But after i read this..im doing it for sure. And im also working on that sub box :) Ill send ya some pics when i finish. Hopefully it turns out close to yours. Excellent work btw. Mad props to you and your e30.Leave a comment:

nrubenstein...
I really like your idea of using the 9006-bulb connector to go direct to the HID kit. In my case, I had already moved from sealed beams to euro ellipsoids years ago, so my wires already had the yellow (pictured) connectors on them.
dontthink...
You can go to realoem.com and look up your car and see the wiring harness part numbers and order the parts from the dealer to make any kind of plug-n-play adapter or connector you want. The easiest way would be to directly connect your factory harness power/ground to the HID ballast. You have many options, all involve first cutting off and ditching that sealed beam connector:
-direct splice/connect ballast to car harness (butt splice, solder, heat-shrink-tube, etc... very fast, clean, and least amount of connections required.)
or
-add euro ellipsoid connectors to factory harness and then hide the connection to HID ballast in low beam cap as I did (leaves no plugs empty or "unconnected-looking", clean.)
or
-add US ellipsoid (9006) connector to your factory harness and it should slip right onto the HID kit connector (very clean and low amount of splices)
or
-add euro ellipsoid connector to factory harness, make adapter from euro ellipsoid connector (yellow above) to US ellipsoid (9006) connector, then use that adapter to slip onto HID kit harness connector.... THIS LEAVES YOU THE PERFECT WAY TO REVERT BACK TO A NORMAL H1-fitment HALOGEN IN THE EURO ELLIPSOID IN A PINCH (like if a HID bulb burns out, you can just connect right back up directly to the euro ellipsoid and pop in a $3 bulb)

I have sealed beams.. I may just try and buy these connectors. Idk where to find them thoughOr, if your car came with factory 9006 bulb ellipsoids, you can just plug the 9006 connector into the HID ballast directly, doing absolutely no alteration to the wiring.

Okay I think im finally starting to put it all together. The basic Idea is I get my cars factory wires going to the sealed beams fused with the Hid power/ground wires, and pretty much do that the cleanest way i can ha.Cjdontthink...
I wanted to maintain a certain level of appearance (no unused connector on the cap) and "revertability" with my install, so I left my yellow connectors on there and hid the splicing inside that lowbeam's cap. You could directly splice the factory lowbeam power/ground into the HID ballast's power/ground outside of that cap, eliminating one pair of those wires going through that cap's grommet.
So, basically you do not NEED that yellow wiring harness piece and you could do a more direct-connect setup by splicing.
Im just confused cause the two HID wires that i need will be inside my cap. I need a way for the stock wires to go in there cleanly.Leave a comment:

Hmm should I be selecting the "dual in, dual out" in the HID Harness selection?Leave a comment:
