    Motronic or WAR?

So I have a chipped/tuned DME on my boosted M20. Just got the opportunity to purchase a 2nd hand Miller turbo tune package for a good price. Correct me if I'm wrong I've heard you can accomplish the same with (current chip vs WAR chip). Thinking about just purchasing the 3.5" MAF and 42lb injectors and running my current setup and just getting a new tune.

Currently running 9psi on a gt35, stock AFM & 19lb. Wanting to run 12-15psi 3.5" & 42lbs or appropriate size for 12-15psi. Guess my question is can I run 12-15psi, bigger size injectors (appropriate to setup), 3.5" MAF on my chipped DME and run the same if not better (after a proper tune of course) over getting WAR chip? That way I don't have to purchase WAR chip.

....yes I'm a still and learning. This is want I have came to conclusion that I can accomplish the same with my current chip over the WAR chip and want to confirm.

If you buy millers MAF you need to run millers chip. When you install the MAF you have to do some minor wiring changes and the chip software lets it work with the stock DME.
The good thing about the WAR chip is you can custom tune it. So you can get better power out of your boosted setup.

Thought the GEN III MAF was plug and play?

Depending on your skill level, there is a fairly well documented way to use a Kia (?) MAF and a 173 ECU, along with an Ostrich and be equally as tunable, from my understanding as I've never owned the Miller system, for practically 1/3 the price of Miller.

A few years back I did it on my 325iC, and had no issues with it.
Seems as of late the 173 Xdf's have been coming together even more so, and should lend even more of a hand to tuning on the cheap.

You will have major problems running 42lb injectors with war chip, as it's designed for 30lb max, with your motronic it's very difficult to have a custom chip to be able to run the 42lb injectors, but it's possible .. ;)

Don't waste your time & money on war chip, stay with the stock motronic for your low boost or go with MEGASQUIRT for whatever boost, whatever injectors :)

I thought Miller's turbo tune package came with 42lbs? Don't think I'm going to go this route but curious.

So according to Miller there turbo kit comes with 42lbs injectors.

The war chip is just the same as a flashed chip which is what he already has. SO maybe you mean stick with the stock AFM? The MAF is a good upgrade.

The GEN III MAF is just a better MAF. The old kits ussed to have a pig tail on them the plugged into the OE plug on the car. The GEN III MAF has in included.
The WAR chip keep all the functions of the stock DME. You will still get check engine lights. However you can tune it when you need.

I don't see the problem with the war chip. For less money it seems you are only missing out on the speed density method of air measuring. Am I missing something?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Ms is more user friendly, more understandable and not much more money. Miller requires windows xp it doesnt data log and hardly ever loads right. Maf and motronic is way to finicky

Why isnt there a sticky comparing these two? Somebody asks about them like every week.

All in all dont go miller get ms
