    Anyone running megasquirt 3 yet?

I am thinking about running the brand new MS3-Pro with high pressure fuel pump and 24ib injectors on my M50 and wanted to know if anybody had any experience with the MS3-Pro on this or any other engine and could throw in their thoughts and experiences. Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but those are both MS II kits...

Sent from the future. Or my phone, who knows.

oops you are correct, fixed, I found a few threads on this from a long time ago, but it seems like they never finished their tune, and another thing is the ones I have found are non-vanos

I've been running it since 2010. hoveringguy is using it with double vanos on his M54. I know there are a few M5x's running it and an S54 too.

I'd go with the newest MS3 kit from diyautotune that comes pre-built with automotive grade connectors. There's basically nothing to modify on an MS3 build, and the V3.0 board + MS3 + MS3x takes up a lot of space. The worst part is you don't need about 75% of the circuits on the V3.0 board when using MS3 with an MS3x, so it just takes up space.

This makes sense, yea I am pretty familiar with tuning just never before on megasquirt or setup of the engine management before, so I feel like I am doing it backwards slightly...How do you like it thus far?

              Here's my thread:

              www.m54megasquirt3.blogspot.com

I got it running extremely well using MAP and recently converted it to run from a generic e36 MAF. Not that much of a noticeable difference between the two..

I have an older megasquirt, am considering upgrading for the faster processor. I believe this will improve light-load and idle response, particularly with smoothing out AFR. Seems a little on the chunky side right now.

Where is a good place for a "noob" to read up about Megasquirt etc? I've read through some threads and there is too much bs strewn throughout to get a clear picture. I really want to do this but I want to know what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and what parts I need to accomplish said goal.

even if you have a really old MS, you can upgrade it to a MS3 CPU. The V2.0 board is kinda crummy, but it can work. If you have a V3.0 motherboard, then it's a no-brainer.

I have some experience soldering (made a distortion pedal from a kit), would it be better to build my own or buy one that's pnp?

I have excellent soldering and assembly skills, but decided to purchase the assembled MS3 because I didn't want to commit the time to assemble it, and because if there was an issue getting my car to run I didn't want to double-guess if it was the car or something I did wrong in assembly.
At this point, I would opt to assemble my next one.

if it were me, and I were doing it again, I'd get the MS3-Pro and call it a day.

if the MS3-Pro were out when I was building mine, I would have fit it inside a stock ECU case and used the stock harness connector. They sell just the PCB too which you can wire up any way you like, and it's like 1/3 the size of an MS3 CPU, MS3x, and V3.0 motherboard.
