Wasted spark: Remove dizzy rotor mount?

When removing the distributor rotor for a wasted spark setup, should I remove the 3-armed mounting piece attached to the cam gear?

Just worried about how the rotor mount without the rotor would affect the balance of the camshaft assy more than anything.

Do you have a delete plate? If not leave it on, you don't want some debris ot anything falling into the timing belt area.

I could make up a delete plate, I guess it does hold that little plastic cover in place, but I don't see it being very useful.

Just to confirm, I'm talking about the piece with the big stupid arrow pointing at it.

sounds good, if yours hasn't blown up yet, I feel fine leaving it.

Get a cam bolt from an early 323i, then you dont need the rotor mount.

Do you have a P/N? I assume you're using one with your COP setup, but realoem gives 2 P/Ns:
              11311266796 - M10X28
              11311714798 - M10x35

Not sure why there are two so different in length. Stamped vs sintered cam gear?

sounds good. I guess it will be pretty easy to tell once it is installed based on how many threads engage.

I left it on without the rotor... you can remove it for cosmetics, but I don't think it will be a balance problem. Personally, I left the timing cover off too.
