i know someone running 60lb injectors on motronic and it cold starts just fine. It required about 3 hours of dyno tunning. I got to drive it and it hauls bacon. For 30lb injectors i'd check early turbo fords, or merkurs in your country. And you'd be better off keeping a stock head gasket, stock CR, and useing metric blue headbolts. The money you'll save not buying MLS and ARPS will pay for your megasquirt. You'll actually save money cause then you won't need to buy a RRFPR.

....what dyno tuning did they do on stock motronic to cold start 60lb injectors? You cant modify oulsewidth open loop in any way I know of... With war chip or ostrich on motronic you can.. Megasquirt isnt for everyone..
Full standalone ems definitely isnt for someone on a super tight budget with no tuning experience or know how either...

If you can program it on a war chip you can program it on a regular chip as far as i know. Just have to know code like the back of your hand.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

We are currently tuning another turbo M20 on a stock Motronic 1.3, t3/t4 .70 A/R, and 24# injectors. Maxed out the stock m20 AFM tonight at just a few psi, but an m30 AFM will be going on soon. Wonder if that will be maxed as well? We did a Volvo MAF conversion on one and it maxed the MAF at about 4k rpm ~8psi, need to try that one again with a bigger MAF.
The new idea is to use a MAP sensor and make the adjustments in the chip, this way we can read boost in the emulation, and compensate for it - even use a 2 or 3 BAR MAP. Right now the AFM is more like a MAF than a MAP and can't read atmosphere like everyone says, but with a good tuner, we can use airflow for fuel measurement. After all you size a turbo by the amount of air the engine flows, can get close on injector size needed, as well as horsepower goals based on the volume of air moving, correct?
We are using an Ostrich 2.0 emulator with a stock 173 (or variant) on most cars, but have also tuned the earlier 1.0 two circuit board Motronic with a standard PROM burner/eraser, LC1 wb and now have an ECU stimulator to do some more projects with.

Thanks for all the input guys, only getting back to the turbo E30 idea now after buying a french piece of scrap that started falling apart a week after i got it. Its just about usable now until tomorrow lol.
So, the plan is for pure cheapo, E34 525td manifold, T3/4 sized turbo, 24lb injectors and M30 MAF. Does the spring need adjusting as when you put one onto a NA E30 and what direction, more tension i'd imagine but how much?
Keep the standard head gasket but change the head bolts.
I also seen somebody say that the M30 TB would be no help but i had planned on making a new inlet manifold to suit the M30, like the JDM units on a Nissan RB26. Surely this would help abit?
I have a Evolve chip here and got it read and it seems to have increased fueling but retarded timing so i'm wondering would this do to try at say 0.5bar?
As said before, this thing won't be for mad power just for drifting so the turbo is mearly for abit more tyre shreading ability. The main problem is time i have, money i don't lolLast edited by BONNARSKI; 02-21-2011, 12:07 PM.

Your supposed to tune it with a wideband 02 sensor. I'd say just tune it for idle cause as soon as it hits boost it will be pegged open.

With as little boost as your planning on running it won't make a noticable difference. You'll be better gains with a bigger downpipe and gasket matched ports.

Toss it in. If you don't ping your good. But your going to need a wideband to make sure your not lean.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Audible pinging, and it's already too late.
We have the local car up to 11psi on 24# injectors and it's starting to get in the low 14's at 8-9psi - injectors are going static so we will be putting in 35# and changing the WG spring (supposed to be 7psi, let off at 11psi due to lean conditions).
We are running approx 20 degrees of timing at full tilt, blow-through m30 AFM (unmolested/not clocked) and our custom chip with the 24lb/hr.
24's are safe to about 7-8psi on a stock boosted m20b25.

to answer your question about finding 30# injectors: bosch mustang injectors will fit and you can find them pretty cheap because mustang guys are always going bigger. i just bought 8 30# orange tops for $150. so hopefully you can find someone who will ship internationally
im doing a low budget turbo build myself on my '89 325ix. i have a low cr stroker engine w/ stock internals, 30# injectors, metric blue head studs, stage 3 clutch, gt-35 rep. turbo (till i can get something precision) and 3" exhaust. but i still need to get the WAR chip. im not nearly done and im at already about $3000 deep including the engine.
might have some build pics up soon
i wish you luck!Last edited by IxTech; 02-28-2011, 12:27 PM.
