Miller WAR chip e/i "stroker" w/HX35 issues

Having some issues dialing in my idle and PT maps. I'm running an i head on a SETA bottom end, Holset HX35 internally gated turbo, 3.5" MAF, 30lb injectors. I started with the Miller MS1 turbo tune as a baseline, as it is closest to my setup. I have a BMP Designs adjustable FPR set to 70lbs @ atmosphere. I'm running a Bosch 710N diverter from right before the intercooler back into the intake between the MAF and turbo inlet. System tested for vacuum leaks, read ~19inHg on my gauge at idle.

On initial startup my AFR is around 12-13 but comes up to 14.5-15 within about 10 seconds of startup. Idle is smooth. The car stumbles under full throttle and AFR's drop to the 13-12 range. When I come off the throttle the AFR jumps to 19 and the car stumbles badly.

When cruising in 2nd gear around 2-2.5k RPM the AFR hangs around 14-14.5, but will sometimes surge to 17-18 and the car stumbles wildly. I can't seem to dial in a tune good enough to get me to a dyno.

Could my TPS be causing this stumble?

I should also mention that I am using Magnecor plug wires, and have the pulse indicator zip tied to the #6 plug wire (common in the VW scene). When I unplug the pulse indicator, performance is the same.

    Any thoughts?

Talked with Brody. The tune uses stock fuel pressures even though the miller site says 70psi @ atmosphere. Dropped that to around 45psi and it's MUCH improved.

I will have to change that! I know our e34 stuff sometimes uses increased fuel pressure so whoever wrote that description was probably on a typing rampage!

No worries. Is 45psi about where I want to be then?

i just used the WAR for the first time and so far its fine. i havent even touched the 19lb+genIII maf tune and im running 8lbs of boost and 30lb injectors. not lying....it runs very smoothly with the exception of being a tad rich.

            WAR FTW

I blowed mine up. I had it dialed in nice and an appt. set for dyno tuning. Sure enough I had to take it out and flog it some more. Had some boost creep and blew the HG (Cometic MLS) and took a chunk out of the head.

I've got a video somewhere. 0-100 in under 9 seconds.

Doh, I remember the impatience of youth.

Except in my case I just blew the little turbo on my mazda GTX not the engine, was still an expensive fix back then...

Looking forward to the carnage pics & the rebuild!!

You couldn't just control yourself you just had to give it a boost lol. I'd do the same myself these things are just to exciting sometimes. You should invest in a external wasgates setup next time round. Get that video up i wanna see how quick my future setup will be

The MLS tore up good. Also a small amount of piston damage, but nothing major. Going to smooth those out with a dremel. No damage to the minty fresh cylinders or block, so I'm happy.

How much does a good condition 885 head cost in the US?

I talked about it beforehand, and didn't do it. This time I need to get it on the road before I'll have time to have it done. I may see if I can't have the damaged head welded up next fall and toss it on over the next winter. I don't plan on exposing the motor to those conditions again though.

I've sold one for $200. It went quick, so either the buyer really needed it, or it was a good price.

                              haha

The damage wasn't as bad as I was expecting when I stopped by.
