I don't know. If you can build shit yourself, you can keep it sort of cheap. I think Denny said he did his supercharger for about a grand. You can get a m62 on cl for a buck fifty or so.

for a grand with tuning? dyno time alone is about $100 an hour - and you need some way to be able to make a tune, either a WAR chip, EEPROM burner, or standalone.
not going to happen for $1k, tuned, even if you built it yourself.
also, if you can fabricate your own brackets etc, then you already have hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars worth of tools and equipment to use for that purpose.
