has anyone considered making a system using something like this? Will it work? It might not be as effective or cool looking as the one they are currently working on but might be worth it especially if its cheap. well cheaper

ill have to look at our forge we are limited to how much we can pour. maybe a billet manifold would work. Do they make an S/C for an m50?

    Ball325,

For the S50 Eurosport already has an excellent Twin Screw system developed. It is very similar to the system we are developing for the M20 but it uses a slightly larger supercharger (Engine is larger) and the manifold is a cast unit rather than a Carbon Fiber unit like ours. Unless you need a custom unit, which we could do then I would suggest going after the Eurosport setup it is a little pricey in my opinion but it is proven and people who have used it have really enjoyed it. Again if you want to work with us on a S50 setup I would be open to working with you. Please feel free to PM me if you need any help or have more ideas!

well i was thinking might it be possible to modify a supercharger for an S50 or something along those lines. casting an adapting manifold or something might work.

I doubt its as easy and making a manifold out of clay and plaster and pouring aluminum into a mold... but maybe. I would have to have the SC in hand while mkaing the mold though. And afterwards would probably need some machining. Also would need to be strong to support the wieght

After looking over the information provided by Insanity and some side research, getting the Twin Screw Sytems CARB legal will not be a problem. Actually the warranty applications and service that must be offered to the buyer to obtain the certifitcation is a very good policy and it reflects what we are aiming for with our systems in terms of quality and customer experience. So again we will work out the details for CARB legalization but it most likely wont be ready by the time we release the first stage of the M20 Twin Screw System. Again thanks to Insanity for the information and links and please if any of you have any systems questions feel free to contact us! Again I should be able to get some rough pricing and system parts break down posted by next Friday for everyone so that you can get an idea of what we are working on. Look forward to your questions!

    Jon325i,

Very good points and I have to agree it is a lot of work to get CARB legal. But since we are working on developing a number of systems for BMWs not just the M20 powered cars but also the M42,M44,M54,N52,M60, and the M70 (the M20-M44 are the current systems in the works with the M54 and M70 next)we need to start somewhere and figure out the California CARB legal problem and there is no better place to start than the M20. The size of the market in California is too large to ignore. So if anyone in California would like to contact us to give us a heads up on some of the regulations and certification needed that I may have over looked please feel free to PM or AOL IM me at home at jester4982 or email at work at greg@seambmw.com or Windows Messenger at greg@seambmw.com. Also Jon tell your friend good luck on the S52 it should be a blast. Wazzu70 there are actually several reasons why we chose to use the water to air setup on the system rather than the air to air option and if your interested in talking about this let me know and I would be more than happy to talk about it with you. As for the system price there are several stages that are going to be offered and I should be able to provide a more complete picture of price and performance in about a week or so. If any of you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at anytime. Look forward to talking to you guys!

Yep....I've seen it done. Keep the engine relatively stock (they may excuse the airbox due to space/config constraints), but if you have an O2 sensor in the proper place and a catalyst converter that functions well enough to pass the sniff test, you are home free. I have a friend whose slowly piecing together an S52 motor (coverted to OBD I) to go into an E30...hopefully this year. He has done all the research, its legal to do if you cover all your bases.

    Jon

Edit: I am not, by any means, trying to undermine the efforts of the individual who is developing this supercharger system. This kind of thing has been done before with other kits or one-off set ups.....both have done well. Its just Calif. leaves us enthusiasts with limited options as to how we can extract big power out of an E30 without pissing off the liberals. Engine swaps make the most sense in my neck of the woods.

Will you take payments for the next four years?
Well if you are already accomodating tubing, the length really dosent matter much to discredit an air/air. Especially since majority of the people looking into a system like this would not want to clutter up their car with the additional weight of the cool water tank and still have the heat exchanger and pumping system as well. The air/air system is a lot more simple and efficient enough for majority of peoples needs. For street and track use its a lot mroe effective option to use.
