I don't think so, just a standard head rebuild with a 3 angle job. 10% at low valve lift on a 100hp engine AT low rpms is probably not even noticable lol

Small update, few needed pieces for the head to be complete.

Coolant hose connector piece and o-ring, mine was corroded...

The oil sprayer tube and it's parts

      Fuel injector o-rings and clamps

The fuel vibration dampler items are now these , instead of the metal ones

I got the leak down test / compression test done on the engine in the car and it's not great, so I am not sure right now if i am going to bother putting a new head on it or end up building a new bottom end also...

Did you decide which crank to go with.
If you are still deciding i would go with the 2002 crank because of the stroke, and because it is forged.
The extra stroke on the 2002 crank will give you the more "boom for the pop" at lower rpms because of the increased piston velocity at lower speeds+ gives you more displacement.
The reason alot of people want the smaller crank for high reving, is due to the physics of a working engine and the velocity/force that is applied and the limit of said metal when balancing, friction, and such is taken into consideration. Smaller stroke = less force acting on parts= possibility of higher rpms, though in this thread i thought i read you were going to keep your stock rocker arms and springs which might be a problem for high rpm usage.

But because the 2002 is forged and the 1.8l is cast the difference will be made up by the process.
        Hope this helps.

I am just going to re-use stock crank from the spare motor, I still need to order MaxSil 0.50 over pistons. This engine won't see any racing anymore as I bought another e30 to do a 24v swap in. Sorry.

You might want to check with this guy: http://m10racer.com/default.aspx Looks like he's got it pretty well dialed in.

Alright, unless the block needs to be worked for plus size pistons, can you re-use pistons and just order new ring set?

Cool, I think that' what I'll do then. I just don't want to spend $400 extra if I don't have to on this m10, but I do want a good bottom end lol.

youve come this far.... i can only imagine how much you have wrapped up in the engine alone.

Not much really, a rebuilt head, cleaned oil pans, manifold and misc gaskets/connectors and set of rebuild injectors. I paid for the bottom end to be inspected but if I can get by w/o having to spend for a new set of pistons that way I can spend that on my other car instead.... having two project cars sucks.

This is closed, as much as I wanted to see what a rebuilt m10 would feel/sound like I've decided to not spend more money on it and instead got a bigger engine to replace it with.

Let me know if any of you need the rods/crank/pistons.

I am selling the rebuilt head, but the rest is free/cheap.

Just hang on to them since I'll need to rebuild mine in about 20 years and I'll get hold of yah... ;)
