My 325i has a very loud valve tick with the hood open, otherwise quiet. I went to do a valve adjustment and theyre all at .008 and i did some reading apparently theyre quieter like this? What could be possible causes besides valve guides?

The OG injectors are loud as shit and can be easily mistaken for valve tick.
Ticking valves can be cause by, guides, worn rocker arm bushings, worn rocker shaft, missing/clogged oil line that runs above the camshaft or even worn eccentrics.

Do you KNOW that you have excessively loud valve tick, or does it just SOUND loud to you because you're new to e30s?
Start by making sure you have a real problem before you go replacing stuff. OG = Original Gangster, Burgundy meant the original injectors are loud and can be mistaken for valve lash take-up or some sort of problem.sigpic

I would go back in and double check your clearances. I just did my valve clearance adjustment and went back in 3 times. I figured out that pulling the valve cover , all the spark plugs, and jacking one wheel off the ground in the rear is the way to go. You place the vehicle in 5th gear (If your Automatic this wont work) and then rotate the lifted wheel forward to rotate the camshaft.
I also found that moving the eccentrics till they were tight on the feeler gauge first and then tightening the nut down just a small amount and then backing the eccentric off to provide just that right amount of tension and slip was a better way to go. If there is some slight tension on the nut then the movement of the eccentrics can be better controlled for precise adjustment.
You can also try a heavier weight oil . Some go with 20/50 (of course it depends on climate)Comment

the engine will have better manners slightly loose 0.012” not recommended for high mileage though . the spec is a good place to be funnily enough. If it’s unduly noisy then something is worn89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Or put the car in neutral with the handbrake on and use a trigger to spin the engine using the starter:

I run .008 intake and .008 exhaust. My car is clack/tick free.
Yes, I meant the OE injectors with the single pintle bosch bois.
The replacement bosch units today are their updated 4 pintle injectors that are a lot quieter too.Comment

The Injectors seem to make sense, it isnt horribly loud though you can only really hear it with the hood open. I was just wondering if its something to be real concerned about. I will upgrade the injectors and see if that has much change. Thanks for everyones input.Comment
