    Weird Noise, please help

Hey yall, wanted to get a second opinion on this, getting a whirring/buzzing sound after changing my timing belt.

When i installed it, I spun it clockwise 2 times and then tightened the tensioner down, tightness felt good but idk if that could be the issue. I took the plastic cover off to see if the belt was too far back but it wasnt, so i dont think its rubbing. Any ideas? Kind of also sounds like its coming from the alternator. Not sure if anyone has had a similar noise to this before, thanks. Also it has a 284 cam so thats why the it sounds variable

id take all the accessories belts off, alternator, water pump, AC, , and start it and see if it goes away (don't run it for long without water pump, but a minute is fine).

if it does stop, then luckily its one of your accessories.

agree with above. you want to make sure the timing belt is not rubbing and causing the issue

Mine was doing that as well and went away after a while. I think I might try a different kit next time. Did you use the Conti kit by chance?

So I took all the accessory belts off and the noise was still there. So i decided to tear it apart and check the belt and see if it was rubbing in any way but I found no signs of rubbing or anything. I reinstalled belt, turned it clockwise with the tensioner loose, then after the two turns tightened the tensioner and put it back together with no accessories to see. Noise is still there. Ive done the timing belt a couple times but Ive never heard a noise like this. I used a continental belt, with a INA tensioner and new spring and everything. Would it just be a new belt sound that needs to break in? Just odd ive never heard anything like it before

            maybe the new tensioner

honestly couldn't tell you if it's indicating a poor one, but that's the component i'd suspect.

Okay well i decided to go back in since I had time and took it apart like 2 more times. The first time i released some of the tension to see if it was maybe just too tight. And the noise was gone! But then i was worried it mightve been too loose so went back in and tightened it a good amount more than what it was but not as tight as the first time. And now i feel confident in it and the noise is still gone, just have to bleed the coolant and drive it but i feel good now, i have a video of the before and afters and timing belt tension if anyone ever wants to reference it

Timing belt tension information would be great. I had the exact same noise for a while after my last two belt changes.
