    m20 main oil gallery

Does anyone have any data on the main oil gallery dimensions where OEM oil pressure switch gets bolted? I would like to install Bosch NTC temp sensor there that has a longer probe than the stock oil switch and have a concern if it can become an obstruction. I tested the fitment into the block and I'm able to screw the NTC sensor all the way in there. I'm not sure how much of a blockage it creates or if it will be an issue. Any thought on this?

NTC sensor probe dimensions are below:

ok by looking at pics in this thread below.. is my understanding that the sensor does not sit in the main gallery at all but rather in the oil passage to the pressure relieve valve? So long probe sensor will cause no issues?

i am not sure thats the best place for oil temp, it might be fairly stagnant flow, maybe better than the sump though. some drill the oil filter housing bolt.

in general measuring/knowing oil temp is a waste of time unless you're racing where it can get too hot.

I'm just trying to make my Alpina vent gauges functional. I tried to adopt Bosch 2 in 1 sensor (pressure/temp) but gauges didn't want to play. So I left with either keeping filter spacer for oil temp sensor or put it into the pressure switch spot and relocate the switch to the oil cooler banjo bolt next to the actual oil pressure sensor. Here is how Alpina b3 did it from the factory (pics) or should I just keep the oil filter spacer as at least the sensor reading would mean something?

if you replicate what Alpina did should be fine

will it make more sense to put the temp sensor into the banjo bolt and put the pressure sensor and switch into the stock switch location? I really for care about the temp being spot on but oil sensor's reading post filter is desired. Is that stock pressure switch installed post filter? It's a long cold winter over here rn so I got plenty of time with this :)

I really wanted this temp/pressure combo sensor to work but no go...I tried. Oh well maybe one day wire it to Haltech Nexus
