Alternate Routing of Crank Position Sensor

I have an M20 swap in a 2002 so stuff has been moved around a bit. My crank position sensor has failed (850 Ohms). I would like to run the sensor wire so that 1) its safe from the dreaded water pump pulley rubbing and 2) easy to replace without breaking water or removing tons of stuff. My motor no longer has the plastic wiring cover that runs in front of the timing belt cover. It also looks like that part is obsolete.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

some early m20's had a different mounting point and routing for the sensor, you might try find that. pretty sure you can still get the plastic protector. i just got new clips for mine sent from pelican.

As far as I know the protector is NLA. Personally I drilled a few holes in a piece of aluminum bar and fastened that to the upper timing cover using existing holes. Then used quality zip ties to hold cps wires tight to it and away from WP pulley. With a new sensor in hand, I couldn't find an alternate routing path that still allowed the connector to sit in its bracket.

There isnt really a better option, for one the length of the cable is limiting. i have run it up near the lifting hook past the thermostat housing but its not very neat

Just to follow up...I routed the wire along the top of the (metal) coolant crossover pipe. It sits between the water pump pulley/belt and the fan with most of the run above the belt. Looks lie a safe spot, if I have an issue I will report back. I am holding it to the crossover pipe with high temp zip ties.
