IX Getrag has the rear transmission case portion for the transfer case mounting. Will it still bolt up to i M20 if the output flange is swapped from i Getrag? Do both of them have support tabs at the same location? I know IX has a different support bracket and its location for there transfer case support but it looks like there are 2 tabs on the rear transmission case. Are they at the same location as i support bracket?

Wait what...M20 engine from RWD is same...Now i need more info, when oil pump spins other direction, engine mount bolt holes are different size, also oil dip stick points little off side, then ix, but that is not issue to fix, also oil pan bolt holes are not same spot, what i have seen you need some space between RWD block to ix oil pan...When so many has saying RWD m20 is not bolt on to ix.
To me yes, here is my e30ix, it has those "ears" where maybe rwd transmission arm/bushing mount, cannot say 100% sure, but you can change that rear end on gearbox from rwd to id trans..Also to me that driveshaft flange is different ix vs rwd

yeah driveshaft flange is different, IX is studded one and a different bolt circle as it mounts to the transfer case. But looks like output shafts are the same so RWD flange should bolt right up.Wait what...M20 engine from RWD is same...Now i need more info, when oil pump spins other direction, engine mount bolt holes are different size, also oil dip stick points little off side, then ix, but that is not issue to fix, also oil pan bolt holes are not same spot, what i have seen you need some space between RWD block to ix oil pan...When so many has saying RWD m20 is not bolt on to ix.

all i can tell you for sure is he was told to make sure the block was from 88 and up. he pulled everything off the ix and moved it over. we didn't pull the replacement engine ourselves, and he did tear down the new block for new gaskets rings etc. i do remember an issue with the oil pick up that had to be solved, i didn't make note of the pump.Comment

- yes, you can run an iX Getrag 260 in a RWD car. The RWD mount works, and the RWD output flange bolts up. It bolts to the RWD block the same as to the AWD block.
- yes, you can run an RWD M20 in an iX. You can run it "RWD", or you can adapt it to AWD. You'd need to do the following to get the RWD block to work with AWD: drill and tap additional holes in oil pan flange to accept more holes in iX pan, swap out oil pickup/pump, drill big hole for iX dipstick tube, adapt oil relief output to iX oil pump, and swap IMS/oil pan drive gear to iX direction. It's a fair bit of work, but I've done it and it works.Comment
