    What Cams to buy??

I got a 327i with stock 325i cams and wanted to upgrade to a more aggresive cam but not shure which one to get.
Would i need to upgrade the inyectors to 17lbs, i have the stock 14lbs....

I saw the IE 272 new billet cam for $355 is this a good cam?
Also saw Shrick makes some cams, 272, 288?

Also for the cam swap do i need to upgrade the springs valves, etc?
Would i need a perf chip? Or upgraded afm?
I allready have a comforti chip but its not for cams....

    Thanks

If you are gonna do a cam you might as well do springs for the added insurance. You wouldnt want to spend all that money to just have spring failure. Do it right the first time. I know, I know, it sucks, more money, more time.

When you buy a cam it should specify if you need springs with more lift capability. If you are going to get a cam, call the manufacturer and see what they recommend upgrading with their product, that is what they are there for. They (should) do all sorts of R&D when they develop the cam and they should know what will perform best with it, especially if its schrick. If you install a cam, obviously you are adding more air to the motor, so upgrading the AFM or injectors probably wouldnt be a bad idea. The cam is the heart of the motor, and any upgrades further than that will compliment it, therefore producing more power.

Ok I found the schrick cams at $424 in turner motorsport.
Which one would be best for a solo 1 or autocross car only,
                272, 284, 288 ?

go with the 284/272. new OEM springs are fine for this cam - schrick reccomends upgraded springs when you go with their 288 or 304 however.

you'll want to put it on a dyno and see what it looks like after - more than likely it will need some tuning.

like mentioned above. If you doing a Cam swap definately buy a set of springs. It also depends on what you're looking for on a cam 284/272 is perfect for street use and some autocross. If you're not doing a ground up build on the engine and your not looking for big HP. Thats your best bet. Now If you are building a Racing engine and your looking for big HP numbers go with a more agressive cam like a 288 or a 304. but thats gonna give you a more rough idle, and a choppy feel to the engine.

you can still make decent power with the 284/272 as well. over 200 at the crank with good tuning. :)
