I think his air fuel ratio was in the 10:1.

His O2 was fucked then. Mine was actually slightly lean, albeit on a non-stock motor.

The thing is, the O2 gets excluded at WOT AFAIK, unless the M20 is different from most other motronics of the era. So it would make sense.

Do you think BMW would really release a car that had insufficiently sized fuel injectors?

Trust me, I bought the "best" chip and 19lb injectors and noticed absolutely no gains in power/torque. I just gained a higher rev limit.

If you really want to make the car "healthy", get the MAF conversion kit.

IIRC, all you need is a 12v source and splicing a wire at the DME.

++1 Best thing i did for my car so far! good idle, runs strong, pulls hard, starts ever time!

I have the latest MAF-III with war chip!
And you need to splice the wire, The AFM runs of 6v from the ecu and the Maf need 12v do to the heat temp wire! the wire heats to a temp and as the air passes buy during use: idle, P.t., Wot, it reads the amount of cooling as a gage for how much air passes into the motor! don't just splice off any 12v... may not be good:???:

I have the latest, the kit includes instructions of exactly which wire to get power from.

                How much non-stocked?

This is the one I'm talking about.

Looks like really low 11s past 5k.

meh.. i just made my own MAF conversion and mapped it with tunerpro RT and moates ostrich 2.0. have the same ability to change, alter, update maps but for alot less than the miller MAF + WAR chip... no wire splicing either. found its not too hard to alter any M20 performance map for use with the MAF. im also running 19lb injectors..

it was a 2.8 liter, but I also ran them for years on a stock engine. If it was running so rich, why did my fuel economy stay the same? 21-26mpg. The engine was perfectly maintained though. I almost miss having a nearly stock car..

Now I average 18-19 but i still get 26 on the freeway. :( at least it's faster..

id imagine a MAF wouldnt be too far off no AFM at all.. i noticed some major register on the butt dyno gains from doing my MAF conversion, 19lb injectors and running a modified Active Autowerke M20 map. i had the 19's and AA map on my stock AFM and had the map edited for the injectors and it pulled better than before but converting to MAF and tweaking the map to suit killed it... in a good way. more power across the RPM's, doesnt slack off in power as much coming up to 7000rpm (still on stock exhaust bar back box too) and once i got the map somewhat sorted out my MPG has actually decreased. i was getting 26.4mpg the other day with a slightly leaking fuel line into the fuel filter.. ive replaced that and further dialled in the map so should be good to see what i get now. this is all on european roads too, none of this wide open roads, big straights, etc, etc. alot of stop/go driving with some mixed lead footedness. i wouldnt be surprised if i was knocking on the door of 30mpg once i have the light throttle maps done and lean off the temp enrichment maps (bit rich on cold start).

if u wanted to really be anal about intake restrictions u could convert to MAP sensor instead of MAF. can be dont with motronic just like the MAF conversion. some even say MAP conversion may be easier. i might give it a go after the novelty of my MAF conversion wears off and i have the map totally sorted out.

                      Currently E30-less

Anybody interested in a Miller MAF groupbuy? I am interested in one of their M20 MAF kits, but would really like to knock a few bucks off - maybe we can ask them if they'd consider doing one?

We'd all love to knock a few bucks off the price, but once you've got it installed you no longer care.

I've been thinking the same thing. If there was a group buy with some sort of discount I would be more inclined to try the Miller MAF kit. Let's get it going!

I'm sure we'd need a significant quantity, like 5 or 10 or something??

                                Anyone else?
