    headgasket complete: car wont run

I just finished doin a head gasket on my m20b25, everything is put back together and the car wont run.

Car starts up and than the revs jump and the car dies. You can keep the car alive with a little throttle.

Im thinking it could be a fuel problem or maybe a vacumm leak, maybe even a tps. I swapped the ICV, but no luck.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what to check? Thanks...

Make sure that the TPS is connected and that the idle switch closes when the throttle stop is .020-.060" off the stop screw. Hearing the click isn't sufficient, you jave to check the switch with an ohmmeter or test light.

If not the TPS, the problem is most likely to be an intake leak.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Are you absolutely, positively sure that the t-belt didn't jump a tooth? Mine was tough starting & required a bit of throttle to keep running. I re-timed it, but the damage was already done (bent valve).

With the hood on it's kind of hard to see if the top marks line up. Double-check it, just to be sure. If you don't hear any nasty tapping you might be alright.

All switches, sensors, etc. are confirmed to be hooked up after the HG job? Just checking over the obvious...

Bad vacuum leak. Make sure all of the hoses are connected.

Don't forget the little hidden port on the bottom side of the throttle body. (terminates in the charcoal canister)

did you plug the crank sensor and inductive sensors into the wrong ends? they have similar plugs right next to each other that you can get in backwards and it won't run that way (no crank signal = no fuel or spark).
