but that is definitely a B27 intake manifold.. and you're asking why it doesn't seem like a good match. ;)

After I do more work on this question, I will post what I have found and done.
Thanks

I know someone who can help you with the manifold design. He is currently doing a psycho m20 build! He has a thread in the project car subforum in member rides. The thread title is "my own personal hell".RIP e30 (brilliantrot '91 325i) 11/17/06 Byebye: 8/21/07

Better explaination of flow angle of intake manifold

The stock intake brings the air in at 90 degrees from the mounting surface of the head.
If you look into the port you would think the most efficient flow would be coming down at an angle.

Design factors

I don't think it's quite 90 degrees, but I'll have to look at the spare manifold I have. It doesn't seem like it could be that far off, who knows what the BMW engineers were thinking and why they made it that way, but they likely had a reason.
We will see.
By the way, I posted another request asking for recommendations of the diameter of the runner..........ideas?

I also don't think the runners on the manifold are anywhere near 90 degrees to the head will have a look at a spare later today to confirm.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...
