    Can I put a 2.7 head on a 2.5 block?

I have a '91 325i coupe that has a worn cam, it runs but I'd rather not have a cam failure to deal with if I can help it.

A friend gave me a 2.7 head, complete. I am wondering if changing the valve springs would be all I needed to do to install it on the 2.5 block. I would use all the other 2.5 parts and ECU.

This is a car for a special young driver, his first, and I want to do it right. I suppose I could put a swap for an 885 in the parts wanted section but a bird in the hand...

Thanks for in advance for any help with this.

    Really doesn't work out

I'm not sure if the valves and pistons would contact, but even if they wouldn't, the car would not run very well

for the love of god no. rebuild the head, or drive it until it fails and swap in a new motor.

you can do it if it is a 88 super ETA head but it will not have the same power that you will have with the m20 head and it will probably missfire a lot, for the other heads they sell a spacer (like a really thick head gasket) to put it in between but I don't remember the company that does it.(sorry if I misspell something I am on my PS3 LOL)

thanks one and all, I didn't think it would work just needed to verify.
I will scout around for an 885 head and do it right the first time.
              thanks again

I believe you can if you saw another one in half and weld it to the side of the complete m10 head.
