i used 3m pads to clean my block too...but the fall off always freaks me out...i try to blow out each cylinder before moving the pistons...but i always worry that some tiny ass piece of abrasive will stick to the walls and scratch shit up...
=? so far no problems...but its good to hear someone else uses the same method with out problems.... =)

With 2.93 gears, I had about 5 people drive the car tonight, all e30 owners, and they all looked t me funny when they got back.

If you can TIG, MIG, program a CNC machine, powder-coat, turn wrenches, and just be an all-around guy, cummon down :) The avatar pic is some swept-near-equal-length headers I manufacture for GM 60 degree v6's.

Well I ran into the first problem tonite :( I was about 1/2 way through 3rd and let off at 130mph and threw my A/C belt FTL.

Yes, fallout can be an issue, make sure you keep the pad square to the surface and use slow speed. Aluminum pistons can be eaten away by a 3m pad, but the iron block should be secure. Also, let the solvent soak the rings real good,a nd make sure you pre-lube everything. I left about .25oz of light weight oil in each bore while the top end was bolted on.

finally somebody who knows something about headers/exhaust :p

if I could weld, I'd make my own as well, with real merges. two 3-1 collectors and one 2-1. actually, I can weld, but I don't own a welder, have no time, and it's been about 15 years. damnit.

Not sure how I will design mine. Probably do triple 2-1 and a 3-1 merge.

              New exhaust!

It's a little too loud, either need a resonator or baffles, not sure yet.

Uses a high flow cat, 2.5" pipe and a DTM racing muffler, all stuff i had laying around the shop lol...

That's cause you like rice :P

Man, put the 4.10 and new DS center bearing, and wow! o.0

Now just can't wait to get the emulator, this tuning with an adjustable FPR is for the birds....and I don't mean ForcedFirebird(s), either hehe.

Well I took apart a spare 153 DME ECU and attached the emulator to it, took about 20 mins. There is currently a 173 in the car and wanted to start with the spare just in case any mistakes were made o.0

Started by taking the cover off and carefully pulling the top circuit board off...

pulled the stock chip out and replaced it with a chip extender so the ECU doesn't have to come apart if I want to pull the emulator out...

put the circuit board back in...

then connected the Ostrich 2.0 with the USB cable, installed the USB driver, plugged it in to the laptop and recognized the emulator immediatly. then loaded the stock .bin file from the 153 DME chip...

Now it's time to hook it all up to the car and enjoy the realm of eeprom tuning! This emulator will work for any BMW DME (or other manufaturer) that is prom driven :D

Once I am happy with the tune, I will burn a chip with the file created, pop it in the Motronic and it will act just like stock except have my custom tune on it...

                      More later ;)

This stuff is so cool! I can't believe I was ever trying to burn chips for the Motronic ECU's.

I am using a definition from TunerPRO on the 153 DME, does anyone have another that may break the maps into dual axis? Maybe like inj vs TPS vs CTS etc? This is all 2d maps from this definition :(

Cple more pics. Seriously took no time to have the emulator up and running, data tracing is a click away. So awesome. Until I reach the limits of the Motronic, it's staying lol...
