OK. Back on this project. Couldn't resist the temptation for a good deal on some turbo parts, so the car will be above atmosphere sooner than expected, so this project got a kick in the butt.

So, seeing we have to make a large order of materials, figured I would slip in some parts for my car along with the materials to finish this batch of GM v6 headers, an m50 turbo manifold and an m20 manifold (customers).

While figuring out routing and secondary length, my business partner (excellent head porter, engine builder, tuner) was playing with the head we had sitting on the cart while discussing tuning pulses, went to the bathroom and came back and saw this...

After I was done laughing so hard, it made me think my design shouldn't be too far from what BMW was thinking when they made the intake. They paired the TDC cylinders in the plenum to help the opposing cylinder have that "gulp" of air it needs.

So after making my brain crazy, I figure ideal primary length should be around 32-39" and am going to come in about half that and make the secondaries about half of the primary length.

Was really wanting to add a megaphone as well as a reverse cone, but Don't know where the 2.13"-5"-2.5" (diameters) and 17" long assembly would fit with making the prim/second-aries as equal as possible in the small e30 package.

Either way, parts are on order, this should be interesting to see the gains to be had.

Designed some flanges today, got to email them to my water-jet guy and will have one cut. The rest of the pipes to make the 3-1 merge collector should be here about Tue.

and for the future I also designed a beefier one for an m20 turbo manifold, and m5x flanges as well. :)

Got the last 2-1 true merge collector finished up, pics in a bit.

Had to order materials to make an m50 turbo manifold for a local, so added the few more pipes needed to the order...

Trashed 3 SS 2" bends trying to get the cuts just right, kept nibbling away at them until they were too short. Bling bling $$, FAIL :(

Ordered 2 more since I started with 4, going to buy a chop saw tomorrow. My band saw isn't made for this type of procedure, too small....

Well was at the shop till 2am working on a jig for the new saw. Got all the angles figured out, but have to finish this 2.7i before I can work on the last collector. My car just got the base-coat at the paint shop, he's gonna sand it again, apply 2nd base and clear early next week so - then the actual tubing can be mocked up - FINALLY!

Well, I got the collector tacked and couldn't wait to show it. Stupid 10hrs engineering this stupid thing, I'll let the pics do the talking. Have to weld it solid, trim both ends and weld the expansion pipe on, but whatever, $280 saved on Burns in favor of 10hrs, ftl, but now I know how to make them FTMFW!...
