Sorry i dont have a pic so i will describe as best i can.. Its like a 3in diameter canister that has 2 hoses going in the top and its located under the brake fluid resevoir and attached to the drivers side front wheel well. Anyways ,the reason im asking is one of the conections at the top broke off and i was checking around because i always smell fuel vapor from that area when i turn the car off. Its an m20 motor.. Thanks..

Charcoal canister.
Some cars had the fuel filter in the engine bay and some had it by the fuel pump in front of the drivers side rear wheel. 87 325eS had it in the engine bay and my 88 325iS, M3 and 91 vert have it in front of rear wheel. Not sure if all early cars had it in the engine bay or not."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Sorry to get back so late. Its an 87 325ic and i knowthat the fuel filter which is silver is underneath on the drivers side towards the end of the door. So that would lead me to believe its a charcoal canister.. Is that where the vapors are coming from because like i said the top of one side is broke and just sitting in there. Seems like it rusted at the connection. Is that a special order piece or can you get that locally or do you need it at all.. Thanks...sigpic
