Eliminating the b*tch tube.??

Because eliminating it makes it's less likely to leak and easier too install the manifold. I also was un aware this tube was routing to the head, I thought it was going directly into the manifold to be reburned wich is what I was mostly trying to avoid. Now realizing the path of this air I understand eliminating it will not give me the desired outcome, because I have already gotten rid of the blow by air by venting the valve cover.
As far as the oil drain back ports being full of OIL, i beleive you are wrong. If the oildrains were really that full I belleive the pan would go dry. Simply put the volume of oil draining back from the head is not that much. However this is just an educated guess.Dave @ Bimmerbuddies

how is it going to leak? it's two 5 cent o-rings. How often do you remove your IM? twice a week? in any case it's not hard to remove, all you have to do is push it down and zip tie the spring.
yes, the oil drains are full - the M20 head actually has a problem at high RPM; the oil sprayer bar fills the head up with oil faster than it can be drained. MM solved it by designing a restricted oil sprayer bar to reduce the oil volume at high speed.Comment

Why do people have a problem with this tube exactly? I've done several with no issue.Comment

you can replace the top one without removing the manifold, but the bottom one would be significantly harder.
the manifold isn't *that* hard to remove - not as involved as say, swapping heads.Comment

Fuck.
Is everyone from the east coast who owns an E30 retarded? I know a couple people personally who are OK, but with guys like this one, aquarium heater man, and a few others I'm starting to worry.-Dave

I hope you wernt referring to me with that comment. For the record I have never removed the tube or manifold, so I have not struggled with it. I'd appreciate if you keep your keyboard ninja comments too yourself. I may be new here but I'm not new to forums or cars.Dave @ Bimmerbuddies

Filter in the valve cover
So my mechanic said if I vent the valve cover it would improve my chance of passing inspection as my car failed for like 20 or 40 points. Thinking of adding a small filter just to pass inspection. Any truth to this?sigpic

your valve cover is already vented into the throttle body. disconnecting that is probably just going to cause more blow-by and oil leaks.Comment
-
it would improve it by like 1-3 points. you need a valve job, new O2 or cat. don't waste the money on a pretty useless endeavor.Comment
