About a year and a half ago I sold my car on craigslist to a guy who worked at a european auto shop. I figured it went to a good home. Well here a few months ago I found it fs on craigslist, same guy. I really liked that car, and I bought it back for less than half of what I sold it for. Here is where it gets interesting:
It has the following:
IX block
I con rods and crank
E pistons
Decked block
E head
E ecu
I put 500 miles on the car daily driving it before I moved here to cleveland, and a friend who owns a spec 944 track support shop back home is going to go through the car and fix everything. I am 350 miles away and cannot do anything about it.
The budget does not allow for taking the engine out and rebuilding, but it does allow for building up the 200 head. The car obviously has no balls, and sometimes it misses out under heavy load. I need the car to be done in the next month, and I have been searching for info like crazy for the last 6 weeks. I posted on bf.c and e30 tech, bf.c was somewhat helpful, nothing on e30tech.
So, I know I need to use I valve springs and the I cam, but what else needs to be done to make this car feel like a proper I motor? I can tear the motor apart next summer while I am DDing my 944S, but I really need the IX to be ready for the cleveland winter.
Looking for any advise.
Thanks.
