Help! My car has an I block, e pistons, E head. SRS.

About a year and a half ago I sold my car on craigslist to a guy who worked at a european auto shop. I figured it went to a good home. Well here a few months ago I found it fs on craigslist, same guy. I really liked that car, and I bought it back for less than half of what I sold it for. Here is where it gets interesting:

    It has the following:

    IX block
    I con rods and crank
    E pistons
    Decked block
    E head
    E ecu

I put 500 miles on the car daily driving it before I moved here to cleveland, and a friend who owns a spec 944 track support shop back home is going to go through the car and fix everything. I am 350 miles away and cannot do anything about it.

The budget does not allow for taking the engine out and rebuilding, but it does allow for building up the 200 head. The car obviously has no balls, and sometimes it misses out under heavy load. I need the car to be done in the next month, and I have been searching for info like crazy for the last 6 weeks. I posted on bf.c and e30 tech, bf.c was somewhat helpful, nothing on e30tech.

So, I know I need to use I valve springs and the I cam, but what else needs to be done to make this car feel like a proper I motor? I can tear the motor apart next summer while I am DDing my 944S, but I really need the IX to be ready for the cleveland winter.

    Looking for any advise.

    Thanks.

          put it back to stock.

that is the only way you're going to have the power you remember. eta heads just dont flow enough. and they arent built for over 5000 rpms either.

I was looking for a little bit more. Could some good head work improve the flow? Switch back to the I ecu?

As far as putting it back to stock, it isn't an option until next summer.

The decked block may also contribute to difficulties returning it to stock. Any idea how much was taken off? (Or at TDC, where does the piston sit in relation to the top of the block?) By default, (i.e. - untouched) the ETA pistons are 2mm shorter than the i's. Without decking the block, your compression would be way down. (Btw - What is your compression?)

The block was cut down .015, the head was milled a few thousands, for a total of .017 or .018. The comp ratio should be around 9.3:1.

I think if this goes as well as I hope, I'm just going to leave it at that.

Maybe just focus on fixing your driver's door lock so your car doesn't get stolen while you're out defiling grocery stores.

Your such an ass josh. I can't wait to spank you in my 944S. You're just jealous you don't have a spread eagle. I found a little eagle last night as well.

I'd do it properly from the start and change the pistons and get an I head. Like kershaw said heads are cheap where you guys are from and surely get some cheap 2nd hand pistons from a junkyard or somewhere and buy new rings. What are they $80-90 for a set of rings. It shouldn't cost much.
It's really isn't worth screwing around with the 200 head and it certainly won't help that misfire

Um, my car made more power than my friend's stock is car with my eta bottom end and 885 top end with M1.3 ECU. It's the I pistons that don't work with eta head since the piston crowns will hit the chamber.

The problem is the block has been cut to allow the i rods and e pistons. If the OP just put's an I head in the current combination the only issue will be the .4:1 loss in compression. You would never notice it power-wise and will actually get back up to 8.7:1 if he takes another .015 off the head (it will clear the pistons, I put a .020" thinner gasket on my budget stroker).
