    284/272 Cam

I'm about to order it, my engine will be running 2.8l with 10:5.1 compression how will my drivability be.
i was considering the 272 degree but some say that the 272 is pretty crap.

My 323i has a 284/272. My exhaust headers may be little large for engine size and compression a bit low, so it loses a little torque below 3000 rpm. Over 3500 rpm it kicks in pretty good.

I had a 284/272 in a stock compression M20 with minor head work and supersprint headers, running a Turner chip and stock AFM
It rocked above 4000 rpm, idle was a bit lumpy but still good

For 10.5 to 1 the cam shoudl be awesome, hopefully you have good headers and an exhaust as well

it's definitely a good match to your CR/displacement

idle should be fine, just bump the idle speed up to ~800rpm and fatten up the idle AFR a hair (~14.5:1 or so).

Some say the world was going to end a couple times this last year but that doesn't mean they were right.

For your setup however, the 284/272 sounds like a good match.

a 272 isn't really crap, it's just that all cams cost about the same and the idle/driveability with the 284/272 is still comparable, so why waste time/money on the 272?

i would look at dbilas cams they have more options in the 270 to 280 range (Varying LSA and lifts etc)
