For non synthetic vr1 takes it well and it's cheap.

GTX crap turns black in a month probably not cam friendly either.

Penzoil High Milage 10w40. Penzoil is good enough for me.

Ill probably stick with this weight till spring/summer

m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

Penzoil, are you serious? I wouldn't run that in ANYTHING.

considering that thermometer was based on 1980's oil technology - no.

An easy to understand write up on ZDDP I came across over the weekend. A good read for those unfamiliar ....

**edited to correct Rotella weight** 5Toes caught my sleep deprived error.

I use Brad Penn 20/50 in my '83 635 Euro race car. I have a jug of Rotella 15/40 for my e30. I may just start using Brad Penn for it after the Rotella is gone.

Good article on Engine Oil for older motors:
Learn why using the right motor oil is critical to preventing catastrophic engine failure in your classic car or performance engine.

I don't know if that was what he was saying, but it has *some* merit. The dirtier the oil is the more contaminants it has picked up (good I suppose), but also has those contaminants in it while it is doing the work of lubricating your engine (which has to be bad - but I'm no engineer).

I have to think that new clean oil is better for your engine than dirty oil. Now maybe he's saying that the particular oil has lots of detergents in it and is cleaning the carbon deposits quickly from inside his engine. That might be a benefit to that oil, but changing it when it is dirty still makes sense. Does it not?
