best spark plugs for an m20 what do you use?

funny, BMW seems to think NGK works good enough to be the factory plug for the S54. But I guess you're smarter than their engineers..

Bosch WR9DS or NGK BPR5ES for stock m10. Gap to .034" and call it good. ;)

i guess you are thinking too hard about what i said. i could have worded it differently but that is what i meant.

replaced my bosch supers with cheapo copper ngks with .033 gap, since I couldn't find anywhere that stocks bosch supers. old plugs were old and fouled, ngk plugs work great.

maybe someone can suggest plugs for tuned m20b30 with cr 11.4 ?
I think that stock ngk's won't be the best choice anymore
mostly street, sometimes track use.

bpr6es work well enough as they are a step colder , otherwise for another step colder again bpr7es if they run too hot assuming you have stock plug leads etc that need the screw off tips

So I don't see this mentioned on forums, but do we have to "tip" or properly space the spark plugs before putting them in? I wasn't even aware this was a thing, or maybe thought it was more prevalent on significantly older engines. Brought it up to my old man and he was like, well of course you have to space the tips properly....

Or is the point that if you get particular plugs made for this engine, you don't have to. Because I didn't on my e30 and didn't on my e46 either.

The ZGR5As should be fine out of the box. I forget what they are gapped to, but it's the upper end of the range for them. A gap at the wider end helps stabilize the idle. I've never gapped mine, but always check them before installation.
