Someone told me that the M20 came with a turbo hidden somewhere in the engine bay, but I looked for it and I can't find it. Anyone know where it is????

Also, I advanced the timing by 2 teeth on the cam wheel and now it makes this PANG PANG PANG PANG PANG noise and runs like shit????????????

    can anyone help????????

Chip tuning an M20 seems like a crapshoot w/o going turbo imho.. Same as M10 and M30. These are SOHC and don't breath for crap.

Sooo.... over the weekend when I rebuilt my head, I gapped the valves at .010, in the cold (about 5c). Anyway, after I installed the head and got it running, I just went and checked the gapping as I assumed after running a bit the valves/springs would probably seat in a little more....and I was right. I couldnt even get the 0.008 feeler in ANY of the gaps!(cold again, this time almost -5c) Good thing I saw this thread earlier and decided to check!

Seems like dropping a grand on the full Miller setup is the way to go if you got the cash. This is probably what I will eventually do. I like the flexibility and I never plan on going turbo or doing an engineswap so it's worth it. 25/25 gains for Hp and torque isn't bad for 1k.

Would you be so kind as to elaborate somewhat?

Guess I'm just inexplicably retarded then.

1k for 25hp and 25tq is way too much man. 24v swaps could be had for that much if you do the work yourself. A chip can give you those gains for a fraction of the price

because you could turbo it for less and be reliable, and miller is over priced fucking asshatery

I specifically said I never wanted to turbo it or do a swap but thanks for the input. I am aware that I could make more power for less. If that was what I wanted I would have a camaro, a nitrous bottle, or both. Next time reserve your comments about retardation for situations to which they apply.

The point is that you can chip your car for a whole lot less and get similar gains. The Miller/MAF setup might be worth something if you were going to do the tuning yourself. But if you're not going to then just get a pre-baked TMS chip and call it done for 1/3 the price.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

                                ok so no turbo.
you can refresh your motor; resurface, new rings, bearings, ect for under 800! then take that last few hundred get a good chip and a 4.10lsd and call it a day...
kamotors intake and remove the cat-converter from your exhaust system and done.

                                a mild cam too

i had a miller MAF and was not impressed! i was more happy about how it tidied up my engine bay than the "performance" i "gained"
