I was just about to ask about gapping the valves to less than 0.010. How close can you get to 0.00 without running into issues? How much of a difference would this make?

the problem is the clearance gets tighter when the engine is cold. below about .008", they will be so tight the valves will be partially open when the engine is cold. it will either not start at all, or it will run very poorly.

with the exhaust you run the risk of burning a valve, so you don't typically mess with it.

Ah gotcha. Would you suggest to gap at 0.08 with the engine Cold, or hot? I was going to check my gaps over the weekend as I just re-installed the head and want to make sure all the valves settled well after their regrind.

cold, I guess you could do .010 hot, remember the gap gets larger when the engine warms up. if you did it .008 hot it will be way too tight when cold.

If the head is in good condition you can set the intakes to 0.006" and the exhausts to 0.008" (cold). Tighter valves makes a little difference, but not much. The biggest affect is to reduce the impact loading on the rocker arms.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

True, the extra load on the arms could make a difference. I might just try 0.008 when cold, see if I notice anything. Thanks!

To be honest I was just bored trying to learn about performance for a m20 and I really didn't catch his weight or s/n in it lmao, sorry.

Not super cheap, but they claim big gains for the money. Miller has their own website with prices you can look at.

Mine should be here in the next couple days and i am doing before and after dyno testing.

FWIW, I have a war chip and MAF.
It works good for me. Nice smooth powerband. and I can switch to an 87 tune for long highway trips.

I ordered the PSIK induction kit. It comes with a maf sensor built into it but i did not get a war chip although you can add (more$$) one to the PSIK.
