the majority of toyotas use chains like from corrolas to camrys to tundras.
It is possible the v6 in camrys is a belt.
definitely part of the chain movement.
some chains do last forever like on toyota trucks. Never a belt in toyota truck
And actually Tundras with 4.7 v8 are belt-driven

(Unless, they invented a new belt driven engine after 06)
what I like though is most of the newer belts are 90k belts, not 60k like ours.
A 90k timing belt just aces it for me. some sort of 10 year, 100k belt theres no purpose for any chain.

If you think a timing chain is a maintenance free part then you clearly have never owned an M42. lol
the belt and tensioner.
The M42 goes about 160k, then the tension guide comes apart and lunches
16 valves, etc etc AND $500 worth of timing crap. Changing this stuff preventatively takes at least all day.
Did both last year.
Like the M20 system better, in retrospect.
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Take the $$$ you would spend on a chain conversion (is this even possible?) and build a non-interference M20 stroker..
this...
Storker done... Now wasting time on this... and Yes it is possible...

Belts are better for OHC motors. They are easier to do, lower maint, quieter, and take less power from the engine. I think everyone is missing the point about the belts though. Its not the belt that causes itself to break usually. Its the failing of the tensioner or one of the other components.
