    Mounting shorter injectors.

Going for some more power and just got my new injectors home. Turns out they are about 10mm shorter than the stock ones, and that means fabbing adapters to get the fuelrail mounted.
Been there and have any advice to share?

please show a picture of this.

It is extremely unlikely they are compatible even if you make an adapter.

The fuel rail should mount to the injectors still but it wont bolt up to the intake manifold anymore. You can extend the mounting flange with some 1/8inch aluminum with holes for the 4 mounting holes.

Should not be too hard if your good with metal and have the tools.

Will post pics when i get on with mounting.

Plan is to make aluminium with 2 x 45degree bends and some of theese to make shure i dont bend the injectors, since the fuelrail seems to be where wheere it bolts to the intake originally.

Anyone know what size on those bolts, so i can by them before i pull things apart? M6 i guess?

Have this shop at hand, so it should be doable :) http://www.maskineringas.no/maskinering/

              Made another choice when i had it apart;

Five-O 650cc (going in) vs Audi S6 300cc (going out)

              First some testcutting

              Then cutting

Made theese from alu, they now sit between fuelrail and intake

              And the injectors in place

Of course, you checked to see that they were the right impedance first...

                    heh.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

In case someone else should have a go at shorter injectors, keep on reading :)

Didnt see this coming, we have a collision

First some rethinking, then some redoing.

                        Made extenders

At their place in the fuelrail

                        And finally

heh, saw the interference issue coming.
so you went though all this work of milling and such all to end up with the same overall size injectors? why not just buy the right size to start, and not put another possible failure spot in the system?
and you might hit the head with the injector rail.
                          Much wow

No i did it to get larger (cc) injectors. Got theese cheap and i like working out problems, so thats why i did it.
Everything is now in place and works perfect.
