    What can cause this?

So I reinstalled my starter with a washer on each bolt (between the bellhousing and starter) and it is still grinding. Any ideas at all? This carnage is from before I pit the washers on

Would like to finish this tonight!

What were you doing prior to this? Did you install a new clutch or something?

              Engine swap.

Starter is original to engine. My 5 month old starter is in the car now. Still grinds :(

Yes the flywheel and the spacer, and the flex plate for the torque converter are installed the correct way

I put the spacer on, then the flywheel, and the the torque converter plate. Torqued all the bolts the correct way.

Also the thin plate that goes between the bell housing and the engine block is installed. It is not rubbing at all, I have checked

Haven't really dealt with too many Automatics but from what I remember...

It's Flywheel, then spacer, then triangle plate for the torque converter.

Sounds like you have your flywheel spaced incorrectly or you may have something installed backwards, I remember the automatic's flywheel being very small compared to the 5spd's so you may have put it on 180.

Ether way, your taking all that shit apart again.

Well it is too close to the starter now. If I put the spacer after the flywheel.. then it will be even closer and not work at all.

I don't mind pulling the starter. Is there anything I could have not installed?

Drop your trans. We can't tell when you borked up, sounds like you missed something. sounds like your flywheel isn't hitting your starter right.

Nobody can think of something I may have missed?

I would rather not drop the trans, it takes so much work, and I may have everything right down there
