Cams and a Tune

I bought my car with 272 ie cams. and i was looking into getting a ecu chip but i heard if you have cams you have a tune. is this true? do i already have a tune?

Open your ecu and look at the chip... that or rev it 'till it hits
the limiter and see if it's over stock...

Where's the second cam? In the trunk?

if you have a cam (aftermarket cam, they have one from factory) you need a tune (a retune, they also have a tune from factory). you dont get a tune by installing a cam.

he said cams not camshafts so the camshaft has 12 cams on it one for each valve

also the OP already has a tune, it came that way from the factory

ok i guess ill be busy open up my ecu this week.
also how can i tell if i have a afm or maf? i have a huge k&n intake if that helps.

i was just hanging out with danny at united artists starbucks and he said i have a chip so we're good :)

how can i tell if i have cams or the past owner ripped me off. -.-
and i believe i have stock afm. :(

take the cam cover off. have a look. see if you have more then one. or if the one you have is bigger then a stock one. but id be carefull many good men have had their teeth knocked out checking out another mans cam.

If you bought the car thinking it has an aftermarket camshaft, without asking for receipts, it doesn't have an aftermarket camshaft.

definately cammed compared it to a video of my friends e30 with similar mods and sounds identical. :) pretty happy

If U like the car. all is good.

Unless it has an M50/52/s50/m42, you really DO only have one cam, though.

And next time U have it in 2nd gear, don't shift until it does 'dit- dit- dit'

If U are doing 6200 rpm (6700 for 318is) then U do not have a tune. Not even camptown races.

But if U see 6700 (7300 for 318is) U are in like Flynn.

Not that it matters, since U R happi!
