i would use a micrometer to measure the wear on the skirts and the ring lands.
you should be able to find specs online.-FREEDOM- is cruisin at 80, windows down and listening to the perfect song-thinking "this is it"

Not having an inside mic that small, I use a feeler gauge on the old rings-
if it's not way out, I spring for new rings, and check again.
A few thou over the max spec doesn't seem to cause a problem.
That said, I've only come across a few sets that weren't so worn in the skirts as to be unusable.
But I buy junk to start with.
