    Stroker advice please!!!

Hi, I just built the following engine:

    325e block
    325e Crankshaft
    325e Connecting Rods
    325is Pistons
325is 885 Head (Admission and exhaust where ported)
    325is Throttle body (performance)
    M3 LSD Differential (4.10)
    Schrick Camshaft (284)
    Schrick Springs
    Short Shifter
    Performance flywheel

    ---

I will install an electric fan

I'm getting into electronics... what Chip can you recommend for this setup (173 ECU)? I understand that this will really increase redline in my engine... and I'm worried on cutting the powerband out of it ;)

What other things will you add to this to increase performance? (Fuel inyectors? Exhaust? ) Please advice!

I really appreciate your answers!!! thanks in advance!!!

I will also post some pics of my baby shortly ;)

    Thanks!!

I reccomend an Megasquirt2 plug and play unit with a custom tune.

motronic is going to choke that thing to death.

Depends on who tunes it. Fernflex made 175whp with that combo and the STOCK Motronic chip and injectors - bet there's more from a live tune. Although, I know how much you love MS :P

Stock ecu with a custom chip and bigger injectors, headers & exhaust

          Strong clutch ..

yeah but you're stuck with either a silly MAF conversion, or the flappy door AFM, both of which are more restrictive than MAP. And there are no real ways to do diagnostics, you can't do reliability upgrades like wasted spark, etc. etc. :)

Curious about the 325is pistons on 325e rods and crank.

Would that not put the pistons 1mm above the deck height?

325i crank 75mm stroke with 135 mm rods

325e crank is 81mm stroke and 130mm rods

so you have 6mm longer stroke, but you remove 5mm by using the shorter rods would the piston not protrude 1mm or .040" above the deck?

Just curious if there would be any kind of interference with that combo?

Or is the piston pin height offset enough that it works?

Even then if you increase stroke with the crank, but then remove almost the same amount by using shorter rods, would that not negate the the whole concept of a stroker?

              Just curious. ??

You have to divide stroke by two since the piston travels that much more on a full sweep. Half is at TDC, the other half is at BDC. eta rods/crank put the "i" pistons 2mm below the block deck and requires to be milled down to use this combo.

pretty sure that the stack height of the "i" piston is a bit less than that of an eta piston, so comparing just the crank and rod lengths doesn't necessarily tell you where to top of piston will fall...

Sure it does. 81mm-75mm=6mm difference on crank throw, divided by 2 = 3mm deck height change (pistons protruding), then you take 5mm from rod length, that leaves you 2mm down in the hole. I just machined a block for this a few weeks ago, so yes, it is a known value, can be done with the math and has been proven to be a way to make cheap power.

start simple and use motronic with a generic chip
89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...
