        Looking good Jordan.

I think you have done a lot with what you have so far.
The Dbilas setup also offered by BMP seems to be very expensive,
almost to the point that increasing the displacement beyond
2.8 liters seems like a more interesting option.

Do you think that you could run a 288 cam with the engine management
        system that you have?

        Later,

I could run a 360 cam with the engine management.. although it would run poorly :)

Seriously... I could run a much higher one, well into the 300's. But I won't. This needs to stay daily driverable.

Jordon, the stock motronic setup does not really like high cams.
But I know you have a custom setup.
What is unichip and how does it work as a piggyback setup?

I was thinking about a stand alone system like autronic, its just
that they cost so much, and I dont like megasquirt...

Like I asked before, overall are you happy with Unichip?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Nice. So the Unichip tech actually gave you crap maps, that were made better by someone whom had never worked with Unichip before?

They were not crap persay, just not optimal. At the time I needed alot of ignition retard to keep from pinging, and the fuel maps were on the rich side to also help prevent pinging.

                      All thats been corrected now.

So how were you able to advance the timing and not ping? All the head work?

The head work played a big role, that and removing all the carbon buildup on the pistons and installing a oil vapor seperation system.

couldnt you have just done an m52 block with an m50 head and made more power with better gas mileage, for 100x less time and money.

M52B28's in US trim make 192 @ the crank, not the wheels. M52B28's are getting old as well so finding one w/ decent mileage is getting harder everyday. So rebuild for rebuild, an M20 is much cheaper. Another issue is weight. If you don't think the M50's 50+ lbs on the nose of an e30 is an big deal, go drive a 318iS hard and it becomes clear instantly.

As time goes by, people are discovering that tuning is a big key to the M20.
I made 6 hp on an 2.7 liter M20 by just adjusting the fuel pressure last weekend on the dyno.

If you want a rocketship, you need boost or a much larger engine.
