Further updates would be appreciated. Maybe you can disconnect the battery for a few hours to allow the ECU to reset?

Do you plan to pop the cover off to check the internals?

IAmGary - Were you getting any CEL before replacing the AFM? Sounds like not but just asking.

No, at least none that I haven't already diagnosed. I recently had a smoke test and made some repairs based on that. This morning I reset the ECU by unplugging the battery for 5 minutes, after which the car stalled 3-4 times before I was able to keep it alive with some throttle. I am assuming that the ECU evaluating the AFM. I've been driving it around since and after each cold start it gets a little better. Will post an update when there's more to say.

Turns out I have some issues not related to the AFM (namely a misfire that I've since diagnosed). Car is running better than ever now, though I still get a CEL 1222 every once in a while but I don't believe that is related to the AFM.

So I'm keeping this remanufactured AFM. It bothers me a bit that I had to use flange bolts to install it but it works, looks clean in the engine bay and was cheap. I'd recommend it.

It may be worth while for you to pickup a used AFM locally to make sure the code isn't a result of your new AFM. Locally here they go for free-$20.
