    Camshaft management?

I am doing the i conversion on my SETA and I bought a Schrick 288 camshaft for the refresh on the head. Long term; I plan on MS3 and wasted spark to replace the old BMW brains.

My question is: Do I need a chip or something to make use of this more aggressive cam till I get a custom built tune?

A performance chip would help but it's not required.

I installed a schrick 288 in my SETA and measured the clearance only to find that the valves were making contact. Make sure to check before you run it.

Triple. Even if 20 people run a cam with no issues, and even if you turn it over by hand and it doesn't hit, it just might happen when running.

$1.95 spent on modelling clay can save you hundreds later... plus dozens of hours...

Clearance can be measured that way, but a lot of care must be taken to ensure that you have accurate numbers. Putting clay on the pistons and rotating the engine through a revolution is simpler, more direct, and less ambigous.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
