It is an M50/M52 crank so you would rather do the same thing? :) . Its the US motor he got the crank from, not the euro one, euro one wont fit, bearings are too large. The "S50US" is basically an M50 block already, the M20, M50, M52 and M54 cranks all fit universally, its because the M50 was originally a progression from the M20, they all have the same 60mm/45mm main/rod bearings. Difference is that the other blocks run timing chains, you need to have a sleve machined to fit over the end of the crank like the M20 (for the oil seal i think it is). If you ask diego he will post the pic he has of his M20 crank side by side, you can see the difference on the nose of it :)

I laugh at you freakin idiots that think it matters what the block looks like, when you put all the manifolds and intake back on, there isnt much left to see. Id rather see paint as a way to stop rust forming and to make it easier to clean, it could be pink and it would still perform a function.

Ohh, and jordan, you can find mtechnic equiped cars (like the 325iS) sporting ///M badges, it doesnt simply only represent the motorsport division and the domain of M cars at all. But of course some americans like to rant and rave when they see vehicles with ///M badges applied from the factory because a lot of them believe they dont exist.

325iS, factory badges, mtechnic suspension, kit and close ratio gearbox.

I know it's from a US motor, I'm interested in using the 2.8 M50 crank in the M20.

Diego, that engine looks so good. I wish engines stayed that clean and good looking once they were assembled and installed.

No e30 came from the factory sporting a e46M3 ///M badge.

No US e30's came with ///M badging from the factory either.

What morons at a dealership did to try and sell cars is another story.

No shit. That thing is the tits. Looks really durable and aesthetically pleasing all at the same time.

Rest of the motor looks good too. Any color is better than rust. That thing will be a beast once you finish.

I think it's funny when non-M owners get their panties in a bunch over M badges. I could maybe understand an M3 owner chiming in with complaints...
A real enthusiast knows a $10 badge doesn't actually add any credibility to a car. If a non-enthusiast sees said badge and gets worked up over it, who cares? They're ignorant. Let them be that way.

Which will give you the exact same deck heigh as the original 325i combination if you use the B28 crank + B25 (m20) pistons + 130mm rods. Works out at 206.2mm. As i said, the crank itself is no different in bearing sizes than any of the other cranks, they all fit fine.

Ohh, because it doesnt exist in the US it doesnt exist anywhere else right? I mean, nobody, anywhere in the world in the history of the production of E30's had mtechnic spec cars with kits and suspension and ///M badges right?

There is a difference between a ///M badge and a ///M badge followed by a number, its part of the package whether the US owners are still waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles hurt about being denied the vehicles or not.

I'm currently building a 2.8 stroker exactly as Madhatter described, it amazes me that more people arent doing it especially in the US as it uses readily available parts and should give much better results than most other conversions using factory parts such as super eta 2.7's and 731 heads on an eta block.

start with a US spec m20b25, add 325e rods and a 2.8 crank and with a bit of machine work you should have a very nice stroker

If you want to buy a new set nando, brian at crower has a good deal on them, new forged rods from them work out to be about $10 more than replacement ones from someone like pelicanparts :)

Like I said once long time ago, we got many German e30's and soem came witht he full ///M badged from factory. Gotta ask why the Germans are morons putting that in non M e30...lol if would say ///M3 THAT would be a different story.

Thanks TJ, I know is not he nicest color and not best paint job, but I didn't carw much about it, it was just to preven the rust like Madhatter said already.

What matters is what it has inside. I will be back here with fully mods done to the entire engine and pics sure.

yeah it is nice, unfortunalty I won't spent that money to get it (budget) so I will have to make my own equal lenght header using my welder and probably over welding in some part sof the header, just like my oversprayed engine block...it won't hurt HP's though:p

well after looking into it I'm not sure it's such a great idea - the rod/stroke ratio with a 130mm rod and 84mm stroke would be a mere 1.5 - most places I've read up on say that's too low (1.6 would be the bare minimum). what's the rod length on the M52B28?

here's what stahl says about r/s:
