    Vacuum gauge readings

    I just threw the vacuum gauge on my M20 in the 325iX and got an alarming 11 reading. I would expect 15-20. Has anyone established a "baseline" for the M20? I don't want to start chasing vacuum leaks if this reading is normal. Thanks

    The only way to "chase intake leaks" is to have a shop run a smoke test.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Trust me, I read all the other threads. Much can be learned from a vacuum gauge. Why would I want to pay for a smoke test if I don't need one. A vacuum reading will provide good baseline. I just do t know if 11 is too low for a stock 325i engine. Seems too low

          I agree with jlevie that you are going about this the wrong way, but referenced off the FPR I was seeing more like 15-18 inHg at a strong idle.
