I've been thinking of going this route myself. My lil 2.7 runs like a champ, just weak in the higher Rpms. I was also thinking of swapping an m30. But I'm really on a tight budget so this might be the way to go. Is there a bigger cam that you could run on the 885 head that will help gain some hp? And could you machine the head down a lil to increase compression?84 325e Burgundrot S52 M Tech 1.

Decking extra material off the head really isn't worth it. I'd personally rather leave as much meat on there as I could in case it needs to be decked again in the future.

The 885 swap is VERY common on the Eta bottom end. Some people give it a bad rep but after doing it first hand myself I recommend it.

I'm building one right now for my track car. I have everything I need to get it all back together but decided to hold off untill I can afford a 272/274 Cam and HD Valvesprings, as well as some Headwork. Really feel like those extra things will REALLY make this setup shine.
The Cam and Springs alone are looking to be around 550-800. So just getting ready to jump off that cliff here soon. Fun fun fun.clutchCTRL!Move with a purpose.- 1991 325iX 4dr/5spd- 1976 2002 SlickTop/2.7i M20/G260- 2000 323i AT2016 Mazda CX3 Sport AWD
