Or find a belt 1" shorter to run on the eta water pump pulley.

This thread is exactly what u was looking for. How much of a power increase will this give you?

        RTV for
        t-stat housing
        back head coolant pipe
        w/p
        intake boot repair
rocker shaft seals and many other uses.:) You can spread some on your hand and make a palm kite with it too.

Them paper gasket leaks on mine without a little of rtv

depends what you do. I'll tell you what, my car gained the skill to chip tire shifting into 3rd gear after the headswap and a 3.73

I have yet to be or drive another e30 that could do that.

I'll keep that in mind when I actually do the swap.

I like that. haha. I honestly didn't think I would get the much of a gain out of this. But I won't complain.

I've been thinking of going this route myself. My lil 2.7 runs like a champ, just weak in the higher Rpms. I was also thinking of swapping an m30. But I'm really on a tight budget so this might be the way to go. Is there a bigger cam that you could run on the 885 head that will help gain some hp? And could you machine the head down a lil to increase compression?

Yes and Yes, but if your on a tight budget....no. I'm not on a tight budget but I was going to upgrade my m20, after you price this stuff out, it makes more sense to just do a swap and start at a new baseline hp. Look at some of forcedfirebirds threads, the 885/intake was build REALLY well, unless you drop big money or go boost, it wasn;t worth it in my eyes to dump money into it for more HP.

Lucky for me I have all the parts I need to do this! I just have to quit being lazy and get on it! How much boost could I safely run on this setup?

A 272 or 274 cam would really wake this combo up.

Decking extra material off the head really isn't worth it. I'd personally rather leave as much meat on there as I could in case it needs to be decked again in the future.

Thanks mr 325. Your info has helped.
Anyone know the hole size for the head bolts I want to clean up the threads.

The 885 swap is VERY common on the Eta bottom end. Some people give it a bad rep but after doing it first hand myself I recommend it.
Thanks for clearing this up. This conversion sounds like a good start before heading into a full on 24v swap. Nice transition per say.

I'm building one right now for my track car. I have everything I need to get it all back together but decided to hold off untill I can afford a 272/274 Cam and HD Valvesprings, as well as some Headwork. Really feel like those extra things will REALLY make this setup shine.

The Cam and Springs alone are looking to be around 550-800. So just getting ready to jump off that cliff here soon. Fun fun fun.
