Valve Springs?

    Valve Springs?

    Im doing a whole head overhaul i already have new Ireland Engineering HD rockers new head bolts new cam and new gaskets. Are the springs and valves themselves a "must replace" or am i fine just cleaning up the old ones?

    Replacing the springs is wise when you do a head overhaul. Why spend 300.00 on rockers to leave the stock worn springs?

    Is this a b25 engine? 87-92 325i.

            Okay. Wow looks like i'm ordering new valve springs. Haha that definitely changed my mind thanks. Any reccomendations?

              VAC motorsports seems to be common. from what ive read they have great qua;ity

                He is not racing his engine or using an aggressive camshaft. New stock b25 springs would be perfect for his use. Those Vac springs are to use in tracking applications where the engine would be reaching continuously high revving points.

                Order everything through www.blunttech.com, best prices around and I believe over 75.00 is free shipping. New springs will be over that. Make sure you do timing belt/ten and WP.

                  Stiffer springs for the OP would be a backwards step with what he's doing. As FEAR said, replacement new springs from your preferred replacement parts supplier.

                    Used springs ARE fine if they're tested and have consistent specs.

                      This!! dont waste money if you dont have to. I tested the springs from a 87i head and they were on the money. There are specs, google it. I think its 68lbs at 1.4 inches and 164 at 1 inche. But you obviously need the means to test them.
                      Now with 2.7i power!!!

                        new stock springs on a mild cam

                        good used on stock cam

                        new upgraded ones for a performance cam
                        89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

                              have a machine shop/engine builders shop check them. its cheaper then new springs. It only takes me less then 30 seconds each to check them.
